Vogue Living Nov/Dec 2010 Issue - Part Two

Vogue Living Nov/Dec 2010
Well, here's part two of my Vogue Living Nov/Dec roundup. This post only features two houses. They are very different, but both equally impressive. I'm going to let the picture do the talking.

The first is designed by Iain Halliday of architectural & interior design firm Burley Katon Halliday. The two bedroom apartment is located in Sydney's Potts Point. The brief given to Halliday was "to marry the aesthetics of Phillipe Starck's Faena Hotel + Universe in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with Sofia Coppola's visual feast of a film, Marie Antoinette, all within an inner city apartment".

The second home I am featuring is a restored 18th-century farmhouse in Bucks County, Pennsylvania which belongs to Richard Ferretti (former creative director of defunct US Gourmet magazine & now creative director of Reed Karakoff's accessories brand Coach & Krakoff's new ready-to-wear label) & James Gager (creative director of cosmetics company M.A.C).

Phew, what a jam packed issue, & I have only shown you a tiny portion. Other homes featured in this issue are also standouts & include Architects Eat's award winning Elm & Willow house in Canterbury, Victoria, a Tunstall Avenue, Kensington, Sydney home by award wining architect Angelo Candalepas & the stunning Swiss chalet of designer Axel Vervoordt.

Vogue Living Nov/Dec 2010 issue is on sale now.

Vogue Living Nov/Dec 2010 Issue - Part One

Vogue Living Nov/Dec 2010
I'm going through a bit of a bug/insect phase at the moment, so the latest advertisement from Osborne & Little sates my appetite not only for all things bugs/insects but also fabulous textiles.

Blog doyenne Anna Spiro of the blog absolutely beautiful things features as the headline story for VL's Pavement article. The story unveils Anna's new look for her fabulous interiors store, Black + Spiro.

American tableware brand Ink Dish has enlisted the amazing design skills of LA tattoo artist Paul Timman to produce his gorgeous artwork onto fine porcelain. Timman's first collection features swimming koi & cherry blossoms. There are currently three designs by Paul available with a new collection to be released on the 31st December 2010. I'd love to have some of these in my china collection.

A feature story on the amazing $3 million restoration of painter Lord Frederic Leighton's London home. The breathtaking 'Arab Hall' required approximately 4000 sheets of 22-carat gold leaf as part of its' restoration! I love all the Moorish design influence & am glad to see something so magnificent returned to its' former glory for all to enjoy.

Wow, this issue of Vogue Living contains some amazing homes. I have only chosen to feature some but that does not mean that those not featured are not equally worthy. The below home belongs to artist Ron Dowd & his partner Amand Gruhn. The tiny 1930s Deco apartment has been cleverly reconfigured by architect Scott Weston to maximise the 48 square metres of space available.

One of the pages from VL's Design feature below includes a simulation of American artist Ned Kahn's installation for the carpark at Brisbane Airport's Domestic Airport. The artwork is a shimmering eight storey kinetic facade featuring 250,000 suspended aluminium panels & is due for completion next year.

Below is the cover home of this month's issue. It belongs to design consultant Stephan Hamel & is located in Tuscany, Italy. Vibrant colour & diverse textures abound in this weekender. Numerous pieces from Italian furniture company Edra populate the spaces as this is where Hamel worked for 14 years.

Stay tuned for part two of my look at Vogue Living's Nov/Dec 2010 issue.

Vogue Living Sep/Oct 2010 Issue

Vogue Living Sep/Oct 2010
Yet another stellar issue from David Clark & his team. A truly remarkable collaboration as is reflected on by Editor David Clark himself:
"This magazine is a product of the collective brain, as I call it; the synaptic serendipity that comes when interesting thoughts from interesting & interested people get together. & the whole is always more than the sum of its parts."
Here are some images from the issue to get your design blood pumping today. Just a note, I had to refrain from including all the images I wanted to otherwise I would have posted the entire magazine! That's how much I adore this issue. Vogue Living back at it's best!

Never in a million years will you guess the nature of the art featured in this editorial. Just mind-blowing.

Vogue Living Sep/Oct 2010 issue hits news stands today. I implore you: Run, do not walk, to your nearest news stand!
